Art Gaytan

Art Gaytan, Nevada. ApHC, ABRA, IBHA, POAC, PtHA, IALHA, USEF, NASMA.

Art Gaytan was a horse man of horses. He worked them from ranches in Elko years ago,
He showed them all over the world, and he trained for people who were the common man,
or those who were rich and famous.

He started working in the 70's in ranches out by Elko and later sterted traing them. He had
a stable in California with trainers bording there. He was known to sit in his car and watch
them train, then he was allowed to sit with them and later to learn from them. He had a good
understanding of the animal mind, how they would respond and what would work.

He learned well and decided to make a career of what he had learned, plus other things he had
taught himself. It served him well and gave him a good living. He enjoyed what he did in both
good times and bad. For 40 plus years. He continued until the time of his death earlier thes year (2011)
and was stillon a junket to Israel where he was given a special honor there by Portal Sussim.

He was well known by many as being a Shower/trainer to the stars, such as Stephanie Powers and many
her friends, Garrison Ranch and others. He trained for royalty and other famous people around the
world, through the U.S., Canada, Phillipines, Austrailia, Isreal, and others including Europe. He was well
liked and respectd and mostly, Well Valued.

He showed in many parades, most notaby the Rose Parade, where he showed for many years.

At home he was just another man and was not above giving some one a helpful hand. He trained
my horse in a few things such as side passing, staying still for the ever scary fly spray, and how to
bow, among others. He taught me how condition myself and my horse. He also let me watch him train other horses as well. He was a good friend and he likedmy horse and the wifes horse, he never charged just,
dropped by to give me tips. (and other tricks as well)

I will miss him and the Horse world will miss him more.
